Early Morning House Fire Displaces Two
House Fire Causes Extensive Damage
Shortly after 2:10 AM this morning, personnel from Pleasant Hill Goshen Fire Districts received a 911 report of a house fire at 36015 1st Street in Pleasant Hill. This property is directly behind the fire station located in Pleasant Hill. On arrival, units found fire from the back of the residence that had extended to the attic space over the house. The occupant was alerted by his dog and was able to safely exit the house with his pets. Due to the confinement and access to the attic space, firefighters had to access the fire from underneath by removing ceiling in multiple locations. Firefighters were able to contain the primary fire to the attic space but the main portion of the house suffered water damage during extinguishment. Firefighters were able to remove and salvage personal belongings from the structure.
Pleasant Hill Goshen responded with 2 engines, 2 tenders, 1 rescue and 2 chief officers and were assisted with mutual aid from Dexter, Lowell, South Lane County and Eugene Springfield Fire Departments. In total 28 firefighters were on scene.
Pleasant Hill Goshen personnel were assisted by Oregon State Fire Marshals Office in the investigation. The fire has been identified to have started on an attached covered patio on the rear of the house prior to rapidly spreading into the attic space. At this time, exact cause has not been identified as there was presence of more than one possible ignition source. This fire cause has been ruled accidental and currently no damage estimate is available.
This is a great reminder for residents to ensure they have a plan in the event of a fire and working smoke detectors. Pleasant Hill Goshen Fire Districts wish to extend our thanks to the supporting agencies who provided mutual aid support to this incident. Continued partnership between neighboring agencies continue to provide better service to our communities as a whole.
No further updates or releases are expected.
