Early Morning Fire Destroys Barn and Spreads to Field

Crews from Pleasant Hill – Goshen Fire Districts responded to a reported structure fire on Oland Lane just before 4 a.m. this morning. On arrival, fire crews found a fully involved barn with fire spreading to a field directly behind the barn. Crews aggressively attacked the field fire to halt the spread to other properties. The barn was a total loss, as was a motor home inside of the barn. Crews were able to contain the field fire to about 1 acre.

Firefighters from Pleasant Hill – Goshen along with Dexter and South Lane County, responded to the scene to assist. A total of 4 Fire Engines, 3 Brush Trucks, and 3 Water Tenders responded. The fire was declared ‘controlled’ at about 4:30 a.m. The cause of this fire is still under investigation. Early damage estimate has been listed at $100,000.

The Pleasant Hill - Goshen Fire Districts, established via IGA in 2013, has4 career staff and 50 volunteer firefighters collectively. Led by Interim Chief Stephen Abel, the districts serve an approximate 45 square-mile area and responds to over 900 calls per year. Goshen-Pleasant Hill Fire Districts work cooperatively under an operational consolidation via an Intergovernmental Agreement. The districts share mutual aid agreements with fire agencies in the cities of Dexter, Lowell, South Lane County, Eugene and Springfield
